The 2000 Mazda Miata (also known as the MX-5 Miata) is part of the second-generation NB series (1999–2005), a refined evolution of the original lightweight roadster that retained its core philosophy: simple, pure driving fun.

For 2000, the Miata featured:

A 1.8-liter DOHC inline-4 engine producing 140 horsepower and 119 lb-ft of torque

A standard 5-speed manual transmission, with an optional 4-speed automatic

Near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution, rear-wheel drive, and a curb weight just over 2,300 lbs

The NB Miata ditched the pop-up headlights of the NA generation in favor of fixed, more modern units while improving aerodynamics and interior comfort. Optional upgrades included a Torsen limited-slip differential, Bilstein shocks, and sport suspension packages, making it even more capable in the corners.

Beloved for its crisp handling, tight shifter, and no-nonsense design, the 2000 Miata continues the legacy of a true driver’s car. It’s fun, reliable, affordable—and a modern classic for enthusiasts who value connection over complexity.
