The 1993 Saab 900 Turbo (900T) is a distinctive and innovative Swedish sports hatchback that combined performance, practicality, and Saab’s signature quirkiness. As part of the first-generation “classic” 900 lineup (1978–1993), the 1993 model marked the final year before the platform was redesigned, making it a refined swan song for an iconic car.

Powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, the 900T produced around 160–175 horsepower, depending on trim and market. Mated to a slick-shifting 5-speed manual transmission (automatic was optional), the car delivered strong mid-range torque and a smooth, turbine-like surge of power thanks to its legendary turbo system.

With its front-wheel-drive layout, durable chassis, and long-travel suspension, the 900 Turbo offered excellent handling in all weather conditions. Its unique “clamshell” hood, wraparound windshield, and deeply supportive seats added to the charm, while the hatchback body offered surprising cargo space and versatility.

Known for its engineered eccentricity, the 1993 Saab 900T is now a cult classic—loved for its originality, boosted performance, and role as a symbol of Saab’s golden era.
