The 1987 Chevrolet Camaro is a classic from the third generation of this iconic American muscle car (1982–1992), offering a blend of aggressive styling, performance, and everyday usability. The ’87 model year saw the return of the convertible after an 18-year hiatus and continued refinement across the lineup.

Available in Sport Coupe, LT, Z28, and the performance-oriented IROC-Z trims, the Camaro offered several engine options. The most notable was the 5.7-liter (350 cu in) V8 in the IROC-Z, producing 225–230 horsepower, giving it serious street performance. Lesser trims featured 2.8L V6, 5.0L V8, or 305 TPI engines.

The IROC-Z stood out with upgraded suspension, 16-inch wheels, aggressive ground effects, and tuned port injection (TPI), making it one of the best-handling Camaros of its time. All models offered a driver-focused cockpit, optional 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, and the classic long-hood/short-deck styling.

Today, the 1987 Camaro—especially the IROC-Z—is a nostalgic favorite among fans of '80s muscle, known for its bold looks, V8 rumble, and tuner potential.
