The 1974 Triumph TR6 is a classic British roadster that embodies the rugged charm and driving excitement of 1970s sports cars. Designed by German firm Karmann, the TR6 featured a bold, square-jawed look with a long hood, short deck, and a traditional soft top—pure sports car form.

Under the hood, the 1974 TR6 housed a 2.5-liter inline-six engine, producing around 104 horsepower in the U.S. (and up to 150 hp in fuel-injected European versions). Paired with a 4-speed manual transmission—often with optional overdrive—it delivered smooth torque, a throaty exhaust note, and engaging rear-wheel-drive dynamics.

The TR6 combined classic styling with respectable performance, thanks to features like independent rear suspension, front disc brakes, and wide wheels with sporty tires. Though 1974 models included larger rubber bumper overriders to meet U.S. safety regulations, they retained much of the car’s original character.

Today, the TR6 is one of the most celebrated Triumphs, known for its mechanical simplicity, strong enthusiast following, and vintage driving experience that’s equal parts visceral and rewarding.
