The 1970 TVR Vixen is a lightweight British sports car that exemplifies the raw, analog driving experience of its era. Hand-built in Blackpool, England, the Vixen featured a minimalist fiberglass body mounted on a tubular steel chassis, giving it a curb weight of just over 1,600 pounds.
Powering the 1970 model was typically a Ford-sourced 1.6-liter inline-four engine, most commonly from the Ford Kent or Ford Crossflow family, delivering around 88–93 horsepower. While not overly powerful, the Vixen’s low weight and rear-wheel-drive layout made it agile, responsive, and exhilarating to drive on twisty roads or the track.
With styling similar to the earlier TVR Grantura but improved refinement and performance, the Vixen offered enthusiasts a unique alternative to more mainstream British sports cars. Its rarity, driver-focused nature, and striking design have made it a prized collector’s item among fans of classic, no-frills motoring.
