A beautifully restored 1959 Triumph TR3 made a striking appearance on the 1.35-mile Duryea Drive hill, embodying the raw, analog charm of classic British roadsters. With its open-top design, low-cut doors, and iconic front grille, the TR3 drew early attention as it rolled into the pits beneath the Pagoda.
Under the bonnet, the TR3’s 2.0-liter inline-four, paired with a 4-speed manual and optional overdrive, produced around 100 horsepower, sufficient to launch the sub‑2,200-pound roadster impressively uphill. Its front disc brakes—innovative for its time—paired with nimble suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, allowed the driver to carve clean lines through the course’s nine technical turns .
Though precise class times aren't yet published, spectators noted the TR3’s distinct exhaust note echoing off the hillside as it ascended—with plenty of momentum and minimal drama. Its poise through corners and classic British roadster silhouette made it one of the most photogenic entries of the weekend—proof that vintage driving spirit still thrives on Pagoda Hill.
